Its location between Attica and the Peloponnese had made the Mall by more old and the first inhabitants are thought to have come from Asia minor. In excavations that have been made, have found the Minoan ceramics of 2000 BC. Also have found gold jewels belonging to the late period of Mycenaean art, which lead to the conclusion that the Mycenaean civilization remained on the island for several generations after the Dorian conquest of Argos and Lacedaemon. The prevalence of the dorians to the island should not be done before the 9th century. e.g.
One of the oldest historical data is the participation of Aegina in alliance with the Kalayrias: Athens, Boiwtiko Orchomenos, Troezen, Hermione, about Nauplia and Prasii, aimed at cracking down on the thriving piracy in the Aegean Sea, due to the decline of Mikines.
